10 years ago I would not have thought we would still be travelling, but here we are, surrounded by maps vaguely planning this years adventures and feeling very excited!
Our attitude has changed over the years : We plan a little more and worry a little less. So far our plans for 2017 are shaping up like this :
Our time in the UK finishes soon. Choosing areas we knew to be beautiful/interesting and stopping for a month in each location, we have seen far more than we could have imagined. Ancient castles, iconic landmarks, stunning scenery and some really interesting architecture have continually amazed us. Experiencing traditional England, out of season, has been so enjoyable and is to be highly recommended. Read about our favourite places soon.
Springtime in Spain
For two months, we will live in Andalusia in a traditional pueblo blanco, a white village in the mountains, surrounded by olive plantations. We have quite a long list of places to visit, things to do & things to eat. We plan to thoroughly investigate the gastronomic scene that has marked Malaga as the hotspot for foodies. There is a lot more to Malaga than the food scene to explore too. In addition, we are delighted to have secured permits to allow us to walk on the thin path clinging to the side of the Chorro Gorge ( El Caminito del Rey).
6 Months in South East Asia
We are looking forward to a diverse time between rainforests, waterways, bays, caves and capital cities in search of the unexpected and unexplored. Taiwan will be a first time visit for us. The worlds largest caves were only discovered in the last few years (Central Vietnam) – they look quite eery, so it may be a very spooky time exploring these.
New Zealand on Wheels
Home to Middle Earth and Narnia, New Zealand has lured us back for the third time. The incredible unspoilt scenery will be just outside our window as we will live in a campervan to best enjoy some of the most diverse environments on earth, from beaches and rainforests to mountains, lakes, glaciers and even volcanoes. Currently researching the best campervan for a self sufficient two months !
As much as we love getting away from the crowds, we also love a vibrant city scene. So far we have definite plans to spend time in Sydney and Saigon, but many other capital cities are also on the cards. Many already feel like home.
